KeineThe Trocadero Theatre, affectionately known as The Troc, is a historic performance venue located in the heart of Philadelphia’s Chinatown. Originally opened in 1870 as the Arch Street Opera House, it began as a grand stage for opera and vaudeville before evolving into a celebrated home for burlesque in the early 20th century.
Through the decades, The Troc mirrored the changing tides of American entertainment—transitioning from variety shows to punk, rock, and comedy by the 1980s and ’90s. Acts like Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails, and Smashing Pumpkins made unforgettable appearances here, cementing its status as a rite-of-passage venue for emerging and legendary artists alike.
With its French-style architecture, intimate balcony seating, and rich acoustic character, The Troc blends historic charm with raw, electric energy. Though it temporarily closed in 2019, efforts are underway to revive this treasured venue for future generations.
The Trocadero isn’t just a place to perform—it’s a living archive of Philadelphia’s musical and cultural legacy.
